Tibet OPEN to Norway Travelers

For more than 8 years, Tibet has not permitted travelers from Norway to travel to the region. This was not due to Tibetans being upset with Norwegians, but was due to a regulation from the Communist government in Beijing. However, starting in April 2018, Norwegians are able to go to Tibet once again. This is great news for our friends from Norway! Many of you have been contacting me 2 or 3 times for 7 or 8 years, patiently waiting for Tibet to reopen to travelers from Norway. It is great news that Tibet is open to Norwegians!

Organized Tour Required

As with all foreign travelers, Norwegians must be on an organized tour in order to go to Tibet. A private vehicle, driver, tour guide, travel permits and an official travel itinerary are all required in order to travel to Tibet. Only a travel company, preferably one based in Tibet, can assist you in organizing a tour. With a private tour, you have the complete freedom to design your own travel itinerary in Tibet and choose your own travel dates. A group tour is a cheaper option, but you lose the freedom to design your own travel route and will have to travel on a set-date journey.

Summary: Tibet is open to Norway Travelers

Can Norwegians go to Tibet? YES! After a long wait, Tibet is once again open to Norway travelers. As always, you will have to be on an organized journey that only a travel company can arrange. I expect that Norwegians will have the same travel regulations as all other nationalities going forward. Good news! Tibet is open to Norwegians
